Hi technical boffins - a question if I may. I have bought a 2nd hand front axle complete from disk to disk from Clive on this forum. It has a locker and hd axles, etc - hence the purchase. He said if I only had standard suspension I'd need to do a castor adjustment with the swivel hubs to bring it back to standard (cos he had a 2" lift) but all the videos I've found on the net only show radius arms adjustments using the bushes for castor correction. So, I'm a tad confused. Can you adjust the swivel hubs and if just looking at the axle how would I know if they'd been adjusted for castor - thanks in advance :)

The holes for the mounting bolts for the ball housings may have been elongated to allow the housing to be rotated on the axle housing. I haven't seen this done, but it should be obvious (you may need to remove a bolt). If it has been done, I would expect the resulting gap next to the bolt to filled by a spacer in at least one bolt hole.

Hi
Loosen the bolts and rotate the swivels. You will have to remove the pin bolt not in a slotted hole and drill and retap a new hole.
That all said why not run it as is with the rotated caster? It’ll give you slower steering response and stability - such a bad thing on a older Landy? - probably not. Change it if you really don’t like it.

Thanks John and Clive - how embarressing eh Clive - you saw my post hahaha. Haven't had a chance to do it yet because we were in preparation mode for my daughters wedding that happended last Saturday and the next 3 weekends are tied up with other plans so I'm champing at the bit to get it in and take it for a spin. Thanks to both of you for the advice guys.
cheers Gerald
ps bloody thing leaked from the locker "air tap/ valve" on the way home - found it at Lakes Entrance. Luckily didn't hit the carpet so we just rotated the axle so the tap was uppermost.

I think my OME lift kit is 2", might be 40 mm, I cant remember, but I didn't make any adjustments. its been there for 100,000 kms. steering and tyre wear all seem ok , so unless you feel a real need, i would just leave it alone.

Thanks Simmo, I shall follow the wisdom of the crowd. Was thinking of getting my mechanic to do it just cos I'm a bit time poor at the moment but a $3700 bill to get rid of termites put paid to that plan ( I think thats the saying). Anyway, looks like I'm doing it. Actually looking forward to the whole exercise.
se. Cheers Gents, muchly appreciated 😁
