135713135714Needed to fix oil leaks from LT230 trans case so thanks to ALRO knew just what to look for . Having previously replaced adapter shaft at 40K from new, check wear after 75K in Lhs image ,only slight shine on spline as apposed to original with sharp serrated spline ready to fail!! ( had shown my previous mod with grease nipples and cv boot which will fail if the load pedal exceeds 140kph) Too much grease in boot maybe.
What years pennies did they use in the centre diff? Couldn't tell as they were all floating around trans case in small chunks!? Ashcroft to the rescue , replaced , very happy! Next the clutch plate and slave cyl needed replacing . Can we start a "defender blues band" I have a clutch plate that will make an awesome Tamborine ! After 115k my defender refused to start ,to be able to back it into my garage to begin these tasks. This thing has a soul, the key jammed in the lock ! Talk about resistance! We are all now very happy now, have a truly great vehicle with an absolutely smooth drive train , no clunks whatsoever . Why couldn't they have made it this way from the start?????

My list of mods/accessories would be too numerous to mention.
Instead, I offer what has been replaced by warranty (still got 6months to go too :)

Clutch (including slave)
Steering wheel sensor (made traction control light on the dash turn on)

Rear half shafts replaced with HTC versions and driven ends front and back.
Adaptor shaft changed and fitted with a boot with plenty of grease in it.
Very little slack in drive train now.
New VCV fitted.
I've done plenty of mods but nothing else major has needed replacing...... apart from the aircon evaporator. Very expensive.
Heaps of servicing done though and it's probably over serviced but that's just me...... [bighmmm]

You must be waiting for a reason to get even the small popcorn JC! 😎

What's a few oil seals, clutches, HD drive flanges, Ashcroft bits and adapter shaft greasings between friends? Wouldn't be a Defender without them!
