I read a very detailed report in a newspaper/magazine (Melbourne Child or similar name) some years ago on aspartame. It was very scary. After reading that there is no way anyone would drink anything with aspartame in it.
Besides, diet drinks all taste terrible anyway.

I remember reading a report years ago that said US Air Force pilots were either not allowed to drink or discouraged from drinking or eating anything with Aspartame before flying, as there had been some 'incidents'
Of course, it could also just be 'net lore, but I avoid the stuff like the plague.

Probably because the US Air Force Pilots were not allowed to drink that stuff beforehand because it would have reacted badly with the amount of 'speed' tablets they chuck down their necks.

I think....If I remember rightly,wasnt it a subject of an SBS documentary that they were being handed bags of the stuff before they took off to take as and when they needed it?.

SBS were linking this with the friendly fire incidents our seppo friends seem to afflict.

Of course, I agree that Diet Coke is BAD - all artificially sweetened drinks taste like [&@%. At least we have some idea how to deal with the pile of sugar in regular drinks - brush teeth, exercise more.

Aspartame is marketed as Nutrasweet so it's basically in every 'sugar substitute' product.

That's why I never touch anything with artificial sweetners. I'd rather try and eat more healthily that fill myself up with crap thats likely to be next decade's equivalent to thalidomide or asbestos!
