Looks pretty cool but crazy expensive! Even in SS that’s expensive. As some earlier said maybe a local firm can fabricate something?
I saw what I thought said Tough Tank on a cruiser a while back, looked similar in function and appeared like it was made of some Polly type material. Maybe a 3D or mounding job for someone with the gear? Shingleback maybe???
Didn’t want to be seen taking a photo, that could give the wrong impression;-)

A side locker is one of many potential products I have on my list, unfortunately I just don’t get much spare time to design new stuff.
Looking at this, it’s basically folded sheet metal and really doesn’t appear to be too complicated. If someone can supply basic dimensions I could draw something up on the computer and work out roughly what it would cost to do a batch of them. I would look at outsourcing them, but even then I can’t see them costing anywhere near $890 ea. I can definitely get a cost for laser cutting the components, and talk to my sheet metal guy about folding/welding them. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2018/02/27.jpg

At a glance, I could see the RR type design costing a lot more to produce because the inset door creates a more complicated fabrication. Just the outer flange for example, would have to be laser cut, folded, welded and linished because it's in full view in the finished product. It would likely be made as a separate part to the internal box, so there's more welding and sealing etc. The one in the picture looks like it's been pressed, but that means big $$$ in tooling to do it that way. Then you have to create a lip for the dust seal to attach to. External S/S hinges would cost more than a concealed hinge.
I know it looks great with the exposed rivets etc, but I can see the high price is more justified with that design because of the manufacturing process.
Something like the other one in the picture with the external door can be created without specialty tooling, and overall is a much simpler design and easier to fabricate.
It could be possible to make one cheaper with an inset flush door, but, you wouldn't get those nice rounded corners like on the RR design.
I'll give it some thought.
Cheers, Murray
