Hi All. I am in need of some insight. I loaned my 120 to my son who towed a 3 tonne excavator around to various jobs for a week. No, I did not know he was going to do this. On pickup I find it in difflock. Mmmm.
I put it in Hi Range normal only to hear grinding noise, low range normal, same noise and no drive in either range.
Got it home in difflock high range.
Checked rear diff and axles, all good.
I am thinking stripped transfer box..........as I drove home and it changed gears perfectly.
Unis all good.
Anyway, it's time to put the kettle on and charge the battery in the County.
Thanks in anticipation.
Paul.
One of you guys will know the answer.
Mmmmm.
Having had time think over my cuppa........I have driveshaft in ALL gears and high and low range.
So with axle end splines on both axles fine, I am thinking some trouble in the rear diff.
Help is welcomed. Paul.
Now the rear diff is out and whilst all looks fine, I have pieces of broken shim or shims in my hand.
Cv joint turns with axle in.........
Head scratcing .....
I should have looked REALLY closely at the axle splines on the Wheel end of the long axle straght up.
Cheers.
Parts on Monday, back into it by lunch time.
C u out there........
