2 Post Hoist Question Please

This question is for those guys who have cheap hoist ($2 to$3k range), I would like a 2 poster but the shed is not high enough to squirt the hoist all the way up so it would be installed out side in the weather.
You sometimes see the better hoists (like Molinar) outside a workshop with no cover, i am just not sure how these cheapies would go in the elements' although i have use of a industrial sewing machine to make vinyl motor covers etc. I don't want to own a maintenance nightmare.
I have seen a photo of a cheap hoist inside a shed with flaking paint around the base so i imagine weather would knock them about rapidly.

Has anybody an opinion on how these hoists would fair out in the elements.

Plan "B" is to build a ramp behind the shed, that will cost me about $500-$700 [already have a lot of stuff for it) but it would be about 4 times the labour over the hoist.

My tufflift hoist, was in like new condition when i sold our house, after 3 years of work. Although it was inside, i still rate it and will buy another from them oneday.
Motor outside would be my concern, even a rain shield will help.

You need to get one thats made to be in the weather. They usually come with extra covers on motor or hydraulics and the ram will be black chromed to prevent rusting. A mate has got 2 molnars made specifically for being outside. They have lasted great. More than 8 yrs so far out in the weather and no faults. Serviced yearly and checked weekly. Cheers Rod

Yeah I have thought of that, also thought of raising the shed roof too but a hoist outside would be ideal for washing down the oil leaks.

I've got a set of these Best Portable Car Hoist for Garage or Shop - QuickJack Australia (https://www.quickjack.com.au/) which you can order extender mounts for 4x4s.

They work great for me but I need the portability of them.

But it depends on how high you need to go.

Put it inside and get an office chair to sit on to run around under the hoist. Simple and inexpensive.

Will fit in your shed around 2.5 high. But will lift to the height of the roof. Disadvantage; has the cable/hydraulic lines running across the floor and this makes it a bit more difficult to push a vehicle across. I have a HAP 60 and it is a great hoist. They do lift my Discovery and sons Defender without bother
