Hi All,

Bonnet release isn't working. Any hints on how to pop the bonnet if the cable's broken?

Thanks,

Is it broken or just jammed? Mine has jammed before.
Maybe get some WD40 with a spray extension tube and soak the catch mechanism to see if it releases. Can't hurt.

This happened to my D2 when in the Wonnangatta Valley - with difficulty gained access from the bottom behind the bullbar reaching up in front of the radiator. The looped end of the cable had fallen off the retaining tab / hook.

Be sure to adjust the cable to remove slack so it dont happen again. It is the same procedure as as adjusting bicycle brakes...[emoji6]

This of course assumes that the D1 and D2 have the same bonnet latching mechanism....

Its a pain but i got a really long screwdriver and pushed the spring enough to make it pop. The boys down at MR showed me after the last one snapped. Its not much fun to refit one, mine has taken a “alternate” route around my secondary battery and i get anxious every time i pop the bonnet tbh.

Is there a way to have an external bonnet release fitted to the front of the truck instead of using the internal one that is on the passengers side which is a PIA?
