Harder to get than rocking horse poo

Gday All,

Anyone had any success getting some of the fuel line and fittings used on the D3/D4 diesel.?

From what I can work out its 8mm and some sort of plastic type line, but unsure of the thickness.

I have contacted several wreckers asking if they would sell some off a wreck and as yet none are interested .

Anyone know where you can get this stuff either new or used and what size it is.. More chance of finding rocking horse poo or winning lotto it seems. Actually I suspect its more that the wreckers are too lazy to go and remove it.

Add to the system. I dont want to cut the existing line , I want to start from an existing fitting and then fit from there.

So far from my talks with wreckers even trying to buy an existing line if you had a failure seems to invite little to no interest. I am sure if you were stuck, you could sleeve the line with rubber fuel line to get you home , but I am not in that situation and want to do the job properly.

As far as I am aware, when companies like Waterwatch install a water catch in the engine bay they just use normal diesel rated fuel line to run the extra fuel line from the fuel filter area up to the watercatch and back to the fuel filter area - not sure whether they cut into the OEM fuel lines or put in connectors etc.

I would have thought that any competent diesel shop should be able to help out. Certainly here Cooma Diesel have all the gear but then they are the distributors for WaterWatch.

To do the job correctly you need to undo the line that goes from the outlet of the main fuel filter up to the HPFP, and this line has a connection above the fuel cooler. The fitting at the filter end that goes to the HPFP is actually T'ed off the return line to the tank, so to run any type of line be it hose or the correct stuff you need to access this fitting and have the correct size quick connector . You also need to be able to connect to the other connection above the fuel cooler so fuel goes to the HPFP .

I cant get the info on what size these quick connectors are , if they are 8mm which I think they are ,or ifthey are imperial or even 10mm. My plan was to buy that exact line from a wreck and then I can go from there. A few diesel shops I have spoken with tell me you can get the fittings that go from the quick connectors to a barb that takes hose. You just need to know the correct quick connector.

Anyway I will keep at it., might give cooma diesel a call , they may even sell me the fittings.

I spoke with guy who does all the hydraulic work on our boats , plus Enzed , and they both say the same thing, need to know sizes, and its not something that they keep in stock so would order it in. I even asked on the UK site and no one seems to know.

You can see the quick connections that are T'ed off the main lines behind the fuel filter. The plastic hose is fitted ( like moulded ) onto those barbs.

Was that in the D3/D4 section as I have done a few searches, but will have another go.
