As I understand it, GVM is set by the manufacturer, and cannot? be changed.

I am aware of a Toyo 105 with quite a few mods, including a 6.5 Brunswick and 4L80E conversion and long range tanks. In general discussions it came out that the Tare is now up in the order of 3200 kgm, and the GVM is I think 3260.

If I have it right, in effect, legally this means the weapon cannot be driven by anyone weighing more than 60 kgm, and certainly can't pull any trailer with a significant towball weight?

Or can the GVM be extended by HD suspension mods or other nefarious means?

PS
I'm now off to get my modded D2a over the weighbridge

Yes, you can get a GVM upgrade on some vehicles. Not sure which and how but the field service vehicles at work - Ford Rangers - all come with a 200Kg GVM upgrade.

You can get GVM upgrades. My Defender for instance is upgraded to 3.5t. I guess the rules vary from state to state also. What you cannot change is GCM which is the combined weight of your car and your trailer.

This understanding is incorrect.

These guys advertise on telly that they do GVM and GTM upgrades.
