Quite simply had enough of genuine top hose (x2) weeping through the reinforcement braids.
About to source number 3 in 12 months and stuff all kms.
The system is TD5 Defender and all new,
Same issue with s D2 prior.
It seems hit or miss with QC
Looking at getting a silicone job this time and hopefully ending this debacle.
Pros and cons please or recommendation for brand to buy/avoid.
Thanks in advance.

My take on these leaking through the braid, is it originates from the vulcanised section of the hose so if you chopped that out and used an alloy tee with a bleeder etc it'd stop the weeping. If your hoses are pretty new anyway could be worth a try??

I went the full coolant silicone hose kit from Allisport and the quality wasn’t that great.
the top hose was actually a dud and didn’t even fit, they agreed and offered a refund on that hose but I couldn’t be bothered mailing it back so currently have the genuine top hose and the rest silicone.
If I was doing it again I would go Samco, more expensive but I believe better quality.

Interesting there isn’t too much actual info from users out there.
Done a lot of searching and phone calls.
I ended up ordering a Samco XDB hose. Which if I believe all the info is the “bees knees”
Otherwise there seems to be only 2 or 3 other manufacturers offering Defender TD5 top hose.
SFS are a UK manufacturer. with apparent quality and track record. Interestingly this is what you will get if you ordered from Britpart, Paddocks, Craddocks etc online.
The other offerings Roose and Gplus don’t provide info on the manufacturers origin. Ie in house or external supplier with their brand stamp.
From the available pics I think the bleed screw sits too high on these against the std hose and will definitely rub on the bonnet.
The Samco and SFS hoses appear to be better in this regard.

Can't help with brand or source, except to say Ebay.
Brother bought a set off ebay.
The top hose with the bleeder has the metal (either alloy of stainless) bleeder connector .. a couple of orders of magnitude better than the all rubber genuine hose.
I can't imagine a normal person accidentally hacking the bleeder for starters .. same can't be said for the original type after a few years of use.
So if only for the bleeder .. I'd say go for a silicon set.
His set is something like this set: (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DISCOVERY-2-TD5-SILICONE-COOLANT-RADIATOR-HOSE-KIT-WATER-HOSES-TOP-BLEED-SCREW/292036159661?epid=596140594&hash=item43feb628ad:g:~j4AAOSwB-1Yrlbx)
Don't know if his was purchased from that mob, so can't vouch for the quality of their product. Link is more for the visualisation of the top hose setup with the aluminium T piece. [thumbsupbig]

I'm looking for hoses I can rely on, this is my number one pick so far.
