G`day all, question time, I want to fit an ARB trade roof rack to our 110, but am not sure which one to get the 2200x1350 or the 1850x1350.
After measuring it all up I think the 1850 will do the trick as I want to keep the weight up top down to a minimum. The only draw back is that I`d like to put an awning on the side, which swings me back towards the 2200 one.
My real delemer is that we are living in Dubai and can`t just go down to our local ARB shop and look at them, we need to order one from OZ, so if anyone has a picture of the 2 different racks fitted to help me visualise the difference between them fitted, it would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone knows the weight of the 2 racks it would also be handy to know.
Thanks

I have a 110 with a 2200 ARB rack. We find it to be more than adequate in terms of carrying everything we need (including on longer trips). Having said that, I think the 1850 would also be fine.
I am not sure, but I think the 1850 was designed for the 130 Dual Cab which has a shorter roof length than the 110.
Weight: don't know exactly, but it is heavy. The upside is that it has not shown any signs of fatigue even after 12 months whizzing around the country.
Hope the pics are of some help. Let me know if you need anything more detailed and I can take some more detailed ones.

Hi cols110.
I've got the same length rack as Noddy but am not sure of the actual length according to ARB!
To solve the prob. of hanging a canvas awning off it I drilled a couple of holes through the support brackets and put bolts through from the back with nuts on to keep them tight. The awning is wrapped around a length of ali tube approx. 25mm dia. and is roped through eyelets to a square ali tube of about 30mm. The square tube is fitted onto the 2 bolts in the rack and held in place with a couple of nuts. The awning is nearly a meter longer than the rack but the square tube holds it firmly when travelling.
When we want to use the canvas it's just a matter of rolling it out the required amount, sticking in a couple of poles each side and we've got shade or shelter.
Then all we need is that other vital component of my trips ......... plenty of beer.
Happy motoring.
Alan.

Noddy, very nice, thanks for that mate, very interesting, I was wondering why they made the two sizes, I thought it might have been for the 90 did`nt think about the 130.
I need the trade rack so as I can mount our roof tent up there and open it out to the rear.
The 2200 does seem to suit it nicely.
Anyone got any piccies of an 1850 fitted to a 110 out there.
Alan thanks mate, I thought you`d be able to do something like that to mount a longer awning. Got any piccies you could bang up here.
Thanks again.

Hi Cols110.
I'll see what I can do when I get home from the workhouse this arvo and attempt to post them tomorrow.
The square pole is longer than the round pole which the tarp is attached to and it fits up there nicely. Probably not quite as easy to use as something bought for a princely sum but it provides good shade and can be adjusted to various lengths by using the poles in different holes.

The ARB rack of that size weighs around 65kg. Your roof load limit is 75kg, onroad. It's a very tough rack, but overkill for what I needed so I sold mine and now have a shorter, lighter Opposite Lock rack which weighs 33kg. And it's lower too.

Bloody hell, 65kg, I knew they were heavy, but did`nt think they`d tip the scales quite that far. I just had a quick look on the OL website and their racks look very similar to the South African Frontrunner ones. I think there is someone over here in Dubai that sell some of their gear, I might see what they have on offer.
Thanks for the info.
