Hello folks;

I am taking up the idea I posted on in the LRSOC forum with regard to identifying surviving genuine SWB Series One Station Wagons in a similar way to the records being collected of 107" SW survivors on that forum in the UK, it would be great to know what kind of survival rate there is of these vehicles, I am sure folks would agree.

I can well remember when I was at college supplementing my income by working for a nice chap who owned an outdoor sports supply business selling shooting and fishing equipment and attending country fairs with his Merc truck and a LWB station wagon, which was fun to bounce around in the back of. I wish I knew what happened to it!

I hope that interested folks will be kind enough to let me know the details of their vehicle and any special identifying information in order to commence this project. I have already booked to go and visit Gaydon archives on another matter later in the year and hopefully given sufficient time I would be happy to check up any records that people with SWB S1 SW's by prior arrangement. (I won't be able to check up 100's in one visit https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2018/02/571.jpg )

In the first instance prior to consultation with others more expert at this any info I keep will be on an old fashioned card index, in chassis number order, so that there is no digital data loss problems. Of course I am happy if people will post up on this thread in the interest of sharing but also happy to hear from individuals by PM or email.

Look forward to hearing from the forum multitude if you own, have owned and sold or scrapped an 86 or 88 in Station Wagon. This list will firstly to identify survivors but also to record chassis numbers of vehicles that were factory built as station wagons, even if later converted. I hope that we can create a positive result from this and look forward to hearing from people. It doesn't matter what state the vehicle is in if it is a survivor!

Cheers
Matt

Hi Matt,
I recently bought an 86" which was sold to me as a station wagon, but after looking at Taylor's book I think someone has just plonked a wagon roof on it.

How can I tell for sure what it is?

Cheers Charlie
