put on roof ,well no doesn't look good, hmmm as was setting at the back with door open ,look up and saw that rounded roof window ,put panel on inside of it and what do you no it fits between top & bottom egdes, put 2 top screws to mount ,check volts with meter ,yep 12V .happy with that and it looks good ,then hard wired it to lighter socket near back rear door.
? : is good to this day time charging battery ,knowing that it a small charge anyway ..

does it fold or have somthing protective on it,
how does it hold up to beating from low hanging sticks, and hail, big bugs and such?

Hi YRVGreen
The solar panels main purpose was to be a wind defelector for my simpson.
It is hindged and I can raise it for when the sun is low in the sky, If its late in the day I normally park the rig facing the east and raise the panelso that it gets the fist sun in the morning.
I don't know the technical name fot the plastic that the panel is made out off buts its pretty tough, my oldest boy has hit it numerous times with the footy. I have driven through the bush with low branches with no problem.
I under the impression the the material the unisolar panel is made out of is tougher than the bp panel.
its been on the roof for 15000kms with no problems so far. I have just brought a second panel for the van.
I would be confident it would hold up in a hail storm, as for rocks well I'm on my second windscreen in twelve months with a nice stone chip right in my vision in the current screen, the solar panel would deflect rocks much better than the defender windscreen.

Very impressive, one that size should happily run a small fridge for quite some time,

Small 5 or 10 watt for trickleing batterys,
I going to put two on my sun vissor (above windscreen), one for each battery.
