Good story.

Interestingly the Jimny often struggles in WA sand tracks, mainly because the wheels are too close together for the ruts. Otherwise they are a very capable 4WD The light weight is good most of the time but doesn't always help it.

Another vehicle that is surprisingly capable off-road, largely because of its light weight and possibly its articulation is the Citroen 2CV.

Didn't they make some 4WD versions for the Paris Dakar (or maybe just as prototypes) by sticking another engine in the boot?
