Hi, recently repaired a leaking throttle lever on a 300 tdi IP, which required the removal of the top of the pump. On inspection after it has all been put back together, it seems that the little pin that is activated by the tapered rod from the turbo reactive diaphragm is off center in the bore, I am getting a lot of smoke at lower to mid revs without being able to tune it out. Is it possible for the little pin to somehow become unseated/misaligned? Thanks Raffynn

Did you mark the position of the boost pressure diaphragm before you removed it? Rotating it changes the fuelling as the shaft is asymmetric. Having pulled the top off one of those pumps I remember having some difficulty in getting everything together, but I got there in the end.

as above, but if you forgot to mark the diaphragm, you should be able to see some slight scoring on the shaft where it contacted the pin originally , line it back up with that.

Hi, thanks for that, I have been playing with that for a while. There is a small pin mark on the diaphragm which I have used as a reference point. What seems to be the issue here is that the pin which interacts with the conical shaft appears to have dislocated, The pivot point of the plate that the pin pushes, that acts on the governor mechanism is held in place by a ball bearing pressed into the housing, apparently not serviceable. The pin itself is behind this, , so it seems that this part of the IP is not serviceable. (I hope that makes sense) If anyone can advise me on this I would by happy Raffynn

If the bore the pin is in is elongated you might be out of luck , if the pin is just too small it may be the wrong one
