Seems no one is keen to do a report - so i will have a crack at it (im sure my GF will read it and tell me how bad my spelling/grammar/etc/etc are !!) https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

So here goes -

We started at the Metro servo on Lavis Lane, Meeting 10am, or there abouts, starting with just 4 Cars,
Scott in his 4 Door Rangie,
Tony, Pandora and Morgan in Tonys Huge LWB rangie,
My brother Chris and his kids in his 4 door rangie with the 4.4L P76 motor
and Me and Natasha in our Stock V8 DII.

After a brief meet and greet so we headed out to air down and hit the sand!
we decided not to use usual overcrowded RVA access but to head out another way - Straight up a big dune!
First hill, Chris and i headed up first and wait, Tony was next, showing how not to do it 8) , first few attempts ended up with him digging in about half way up the dune, after airing down some more and a bit morepace he was able to make it up.
Then came scotts turn, making it up first time no troubles.

Tony dug in on the first dune

Then it was off for a but of a play on some bigger dunes where both the Disco and rangie with the 4.4 showed how it was done, taking on the dunes without a problem,,... that is except the problem of waiting for the sydney guys to make it up the bigger dunes with both taking several attempts https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Scott and tony dig in side by side on one of the bigger dunes... https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

After playing in the dunes for a while it was time to head down beach to the Signa for some site seeing a to have a stop off and some lunch.

After lunch it was decided that we should head further south, down to the old firing range which is the southern limit for vehicle access to the beach. After seeing alot of sand,, and then some more sand we decided to head inland to a lagoon in nearby the sand mines.

At this stage it was starting to get a bit late in the day so we headed off to setup camp, picking up Bryce in his 2 door rangie and andrew in his X-Trail  , both a little late for the trip but better late then never https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
After getting to our camping spot Scott, Chris, Andrew, Bryce and myself went out firewood hunting,, lukily Scott had brang his trusty Land Rover Chainsaw!! We found a rather large peice of a tree and cut a few small peices off, but after going tag team on the hand saw for a while we decided it was easier to drag the whole thing back to camp behind chris's rangie! 8O https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
After helping us setup camp and getting a raging fire going Chris had to head off to take his kids home.

After a good night sleep, we got up refreshed and ready for another day... well not really, we all looked a little tired - probobly to much sand in our beds! So it was off to the lagoon again for a quick wake up dip!

The local guys and Pandora taking a dip - I think those sydney boys must not know how to swim! https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Not far from the lagoon was one of the largest dunes on the beach, we thought it was a perfect time to snap a few good group photos, So we found one of the highest points and manovoured our cars into position, Bryce needed a little help getting the old stock 2 door into place but with a little push it wasnt a problem https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Big dune - the other side of this hill is easy to see from newcastle even.

After this is was time to head up north towards silver city then in to the dunes again for more playing, The trip up the beach was nice and easy with the X-trail out in the lead with all the rovers hanging back so it didnt look like it was with us https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ There wasnt alot going on at silver city, some sand, some tin, some more sand, so it was off to the dunes again..

With the X-trail leading the charge it seemed unstopable for a little soft roader, after taking on several nasty looking dunes and Tony showing us how you get air in a rangie we all came to a stop as bryce pulled a tyre off the rim! Unfortunatly for Andrew in the X-trail he didnt have a UHF so he kept driving, the rest of us pulled up and turned back to find bryce. Looking from the top of the dunes I could see andrew off in the distance so scott took of to find him while Tony and myself stayed with bryce.
Tony showing his wisdow grabbed a match and aerosol can showing us a method of getting a tyre back on to the rim whilst making a very cool looking fireball https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

after that it was time to air up a little and head off..... almost,, Finally the X-trail had come unstuck, on his way back andrew had perched himself on top of the dune directly oposite us completly bottoming out and digging the car down to the chassis - or what ever the plastic x-trail equivelant is https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Bryce airing up..

Head hung in shame, Andrew abandons the X-trail....

X-trail showing its great clearance....

Disco to the rescue!
http://www.aulro.com/albums/album400/IMG_6548.sized.jpg

After all the excitment, we were all feeling a bit hungy, as was my very hungry disco, so it was off to Anna bay for air up, fill up and getting some healthy take away food.

After lunch we all headed back down towards stockton then off into the bush tracks near the beach to the old abandoned military proofing range for a bit of a look around and a quick look at the Firing range, taking time to collect a few bullets from the mound at the end.

One last stop off, We took a trip into stockton itself and down to the foreshore looking across to newcastle, Where we said our good byes and decided to call it a day.

All in all it was a great trip and great company, I am very much so looking forward to our next outing!

Mick.

P.s Its a little long but it was a long trip https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Top report Mick.
Gee, you were burning the midnight oil with that one https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ .

Yes, it was a great weekend.
Driving in the sand is great fun, getting it out of your car is not though.

It's a pity some more locals and Sydneysiders couldn't make it.
The whole idea was first mooted by Yabbie - what happened ??
