Some times we become complacent up here in Darwin about lightning storms because we have so many of them. Last night the chook yard got a direct hit and killed nine ducks and maimed one which I had to kill.
the chook yard is only about a cricket pitch and a half from the house.

So why are the chooks protected? Divine intervention? :?
Maybe webbed feet conduct better?

Darwin Peking Duck, then.
Big can o worms. Act of god, god discriminates against ducks and protects the chosen chickens.

Hope not too many repairs.
Lightning strikes are way more common than most people think. We have a lightning radar at work and in one period over 6 hrs and a radius of 10kms 10,000 plus strikes were recorded. Last week we had a power pole fire due to lightning strike.

Hang on 8O nine ducks where killed and no chooks, so what where ducks doing in the chook yard, besides dying of coarse.

Pitch invasion.
We were hit by lightning a few years ago. Lost the fridge, TV, computer, and part of the stereo all at one go.
Cheers

Thats funny Ron
I got the nickname years ago from my fighting days in the ring from an old square head, so yes that is what it means.
And obviously the chooks are smarter than the ducks they get up off of the wet ground in the chook shed so the only problem they have is ringing in the eats from the noise.
Total tally ended up as follows:
5 ducks nothing but some feathers
4 ducks looked like someone had put them in a blender
1 alive but fried - even it's beak was a different colour.
And the bloody chooks were getting stuck into them, talk about pecking order.
Cheers Blythe / Blitz
