Perentie light Green Paint.

Hi All,

I wanted to keep the light green camo colour that exists on my 4X4 Cargo so I got it matched and made up by Protec at Brisbane.

Here is a photo of the formula for that colour. It only exists on this can so if anyone else wishes to use it they will need this photo. It is the dry colour, not the wet or oiled colour and it will not change colour when wet or oiled.137320They called it Olive Green.

I assume that you're aware, that there is no "light green camo", it is just that the olive green fades to a lighter shade with time and sunlight.

There has been heaps posted about it on the various fora.

So Protec matched the time-faded paint with a lighter shade? Interesting...

It will also be interesting to see if the vehicle looks patchy when it gets thoroughly wet.

I like the colour so I am keeping to it. It is the most recent colour sprayed onto my vehicle because it is on top of other colours such as Light Tan and there are many colours below that before getting to the original green, (probably Olive Drab).

I have the rear panel to paint at the moment. It isn't possible to see all sides of an object this size at once, so the mismatch when it rains should not be noticeable but thanks for your concern.

I got given a can of protect camo green meant for perentie and was planning to use for some touchup's but when i did test spray it was more like olive drab not the lighter green on my perentie -though i think the rims are painted more olive drab.

ALL the green in the paint scheme starts out as drab olive, it is just that it fades with time and sunshine, just wet or oil your "light green" to see a shade closer to the original.

Hi, The camo green on offer by Protec now is a Nato colour I think. Spose it would suit the new Mercs the Army has. The green I have put on is the light green on some of our vehicles. Protec do not have that colour or the earlier olive drab that would have been used on our vehicles. I had to get it made up.

Good point though. The wheels are olive drab and they have not faded to the light green like the paint on the body supposedly has; despite being out in the sun with the rest of the vehicle.

I had a bit of a toss-up whether to use the dry "Faded Green" or the wet/oiled "Faded Green". I oiled a bit, came up a beautiful bright green which I called, 'Apple Green'. It also comes up a beautiful full bright green when it is wet, I find that colour to be a real buzz but decided it was too beautiful to be on a Perentie.[smilebigeye]

Hi, I think I have found the paint that has faded to the light green. It is not the original olive drab but is a darker green that has been applied during a respray. It is on top of previous imperfections and scratches most noticeable in the tub and on the ROPS. It has faded to a lesser degree on the rear of the uprights of the rear ROP hoop and around the rear stretcher clamps. I am now satisfied that it was a dark green to begin with. However I very much doubt that it was a Protec product or any other commercial product due to it's colour instability. I tend to think another readers comment that the army might have done some colour mixing could be the case. Other Reader I cannot recall offhand.

I am still going to keep the light green because I like it and anyone else please feel free to do so.[bigsmile1]
