Hi,
I'm pretty keen to install the wiring for my Exbox. The actual box was installed pre-Christmas but no wiring made it in. Before Chrissie I also installed a wiring loom from Traxide, some IPF 900's and an in car charger for a thumper battery. Given the now 'some experience' level I enjoy I thought I'd tackle the wiring transfer to remove the gear from under the drivers seat. A few questions and requests I have are;
- Some pictures of a well installed Exbox would be great. I saw some great pics from lump_a_charcoal of how its supposed to end up looking but some more detail of during the install would be great,
- How to best treat the heat from the exhaust. When I put the box in I fitted some woven mat heat shield from Super cheap. On a recent drive from Sydney to Melb is still got damn hot. I'd like to stop the heat at the source is possible. Jon3950 had some good suggestions for shield on the pipe itself. I'l do this but is it enough and does this; exhaust heat shield kit, hot exhaust, cool car, heat protection, exhaust pipe protection, embossed (http://www.carbuilders.com.au/ehs_k) work best. Is it also worth fitting some heat shield to the bodywork below the Exbox and does it stay in place for long,
- What tools do I need to connect the wires. I have basic electrical tools such as pliers of various sorts, a multi meter, some crimpers for the spade plugs, wire stripper, soldering Iron (although I'm pretty rubbish with it). Should I have one of these: Narva 56523 Master Ratchet Crimping Kit Tool Crimp Lugs Terminals 50A Anderson | eBay (https://www.ebay.com.au/i/132246288424?chn=ps&dispItem=1&fl=c)
- When I install the wiring I'd like to have some added USB's and lighter sockets and some future proofing for extra electrical gadgets in the form of a second 12v active fuse box - would this be helpful? Again, some pics would be great.
Apologies for what might be some pretty uninformed questions above but, as they say in the classics, every journey stars with a single step
