The vacuum pump on the TD5 is lubricated by the engine oil. Where is the seal that stops the engine oil getting into the alternator - at the back of the vacuum pump part or the front of the alternator?
i.e. if when separating the pair there is black oil on the back of the vacuum pump and front of the alternator, does that indicate a failed seal or not?
