Actually we've learned that there was more radionuclide release from TMI than previously thought. Not enough to cause immediate injury, but enough to lead to some future cancers.
No, we didn't make Chernobyl. But we DID make Fukushima. Those reactors were designed and built by General Electric. I know because one of my research colleagues went to work for GE in Japan.
