Anyone here done anything like this to improve departure angle and reduce the rear guards?

Doesn’t improve it as much as you think!
Still have chassis rails and outriggers to consider...
There are a few who did a trim up but going straight doesn’t gain anything.

Maybe. But it’s a crap, unrefined look [emoji56][emoji48]

I agree.
Maybe some "Poser" value but very little practical value in this mod and yes it does look like crap as well.

I have noticed disco and other makes with damage in the area.....
Bar work protecting the existing panels or making adjustment to the panel l isn’t sick a bad idea if you’re doing more extreme tracks

I’m going to do mine and make a rear bar to suit as I can’t find one off the shelf obviously. I have damaged both rear quarters below the last fold in the body so it looks a bit rough as it is.

So had my D1 when it happened but I sorted that and kept the line which looks and flows nicer... (and works for dragging off items also)

That’s the style I’m aiming for Tombie.

I like that set up. My lower rear panels have been damaged on rocks, so plan to cut them shorter.

Those bars would offer very little in the way of protection and the ludicrous recovery points are just downright dangerous.

Yeh not worried about the eye bolts, more the style of the bar. As for protection what are comparing it to? Factory panels with some checker plate riveted on or an exo frame tied to the chassis rail.
Either way that style will give more clearance when stepping of rocks/ledges, traversing gully’s etc. I got sick of replacing the factory rear indicators on mine (D2) that I just run the inner of the factory rear bar with $12 sacrificial trailer indicators screwed on. I’m sure protection will be just fine with that setup.

How do you arrive at that conclusion? (Recovery points)
