Hi brains trust, I assume I shouldn't be getting water in my fuel filter (TDV6)? I ran my tank down very low just prior to installing a long range fuel tank and when I did I experienced Fault Code P2290 - Injector Pressure Too Low a couple of times when giving it some, once along the along the highway and a second time going up hill which resulted in loosing power momentarily. I replaced the fuel filter thinking it might have fouled it up and to my surprise found water in the old one. I then started looking at the low pressure fuel system (there's some very good write ups here and on Disco3.co.uk) and I've determined I might now have a problem with the in-tank fuel pump. Fuel pressure is running at just under 4 psig instead of 7. I'll be dropping the tank this weekend to look at the pump and see if I have any more water in the tank.
When I rang LR to enquire about the cost of a new LP pump, I was told there were two varients, one costing over $1300 and the second around $850. The difference between the two being the more expensive one is the original design which has the electric pump and pressure regulator incorporated inside the sender unit in the tank itself whereas the second unit he said was used following a product recall early on where the tank was replaced and the fuel pump assembly design was changed to one with an external electric pump and regulator. I believe this second style is what is also used in the post 2007 D3's. Can anyone confirm if there was a recall for the LP fuel pump? I am aware of the later recall with the HP pump but know nothing relating to the LP pump. Also, where else can I go for these pumps and does anyone know the part numbers for them?
I think the the dirt in the water in the photo is because my catch tray was dirty when I emptied the filter into it.
