Series III stage 1 rear axle stub help.

Hello, my LH rear is chewing out seals and looks like the chroming is going off around that area?
I would like to replace the stub axle but in the myriad of parts I am having trouble finding the exact one for a 1981 series 3 Stage 1. As most parts online have the series 3 stub axle going to 1980. Is is so confusing. Would anyone have a part number please?

According to my parts book, Stage 1 up to Sept 1980 is FRC1996, and from October 1980 is FRC3924. All other models are 599288 up to September 1980, and FRC3924 from October 1980.

The only caution is that if it is an Australian assembled vehicle, it is possible that the changeover was a bit later. And, of course - does it have the original axle?

I am not sure if it is the original axle or how to find that out. This vehicle is such a headache for parts.
Only reason I don't scrap it is poverty keeps me going.

It is very likely that it is the original axle - these salisbury axles rarely give trouble.

If you have the chassis number, you can input it into Calvin, Clifton Scientific Text Services, the Netherlands (http://www.clifton.nl/index.html?calvin.html)

This should give the details of it, although it is not infallible.

I have located 2 new Bearmach stubs delivered from the UK for $140. Awesome.
