Just about to swap over to the D5, I have been told by several sources in the van and automotive electrical field that when fitting the Redarc Tow Pro or any other brake controller that I will also need to fit a towing module as well or the D5 will not go into towing mode. It would appear that they have stepped back in time again if this is the case like the D3 and early D4 not playing well with LED lamps.

Has anyone heard, or have first hand experience with this issue, I am hooking up a 2017 Jayco Starcraft with LED lamps with a Alko ESC. Not keen on spending another $500-00 on the module if it’s not required and introducing a another piece of electronic trickery into a brand new vehicle that already is so tech laden, as if I do have any warranty issues they always question what other bits u have added into the vehicle .....

Also any pictures or location of the control knob, I’m thinking on the steering column surround,
but open to ideas.

thanks

Are you referring the module to handle LED lights on the trailer? If so, I doubt it would be any different to the latest D4's at the very worst. Easily solved by a resistor.

I got this installed in my D4 with a switch to activate it, that way my reverse sensors and blind spot monitoring don’t work.
I had it installed in the car because I tow different trailers for work. And I got an auto elec to install it with the electric brake controller.

Hi GP1200.
I have the TowPro in my D5 SE and Alko ESC in my AOR van. No need for a tow module. I did put a resistor in my van for my previous 2.7 D4. I think it cost about $15, so if someone is trying to charge you $500....!! AOR do one in a little box for $50.
