Driving to Canberra today, the boost pressure alarm set at 25psi is triggering more and more frequently. Not really pushing the old 300tdi any more than usual. Any ideas regarding cause, solution and possible ramifications?

Edit: forgot to mention that EGT temps seem normal (<500)

Faulty wastegate actuator?

The wastegate should be opening when the ideal pressure is reached. If it is not opening for some reason then the boost pressure may rise above normal operating pressures.

Not sure if this is a problem or not at the pressures its reaching. Probably making it run quite lean.

Actually, If you have boost gauges/alarms and EGT gauge then I assume your running some type of boost regulator on the wastegate vacuum line?

Is this functioning correctly?

Is this functioning correctly?Gauges yes, regulator no. Hopefully someone at Cooma might be able to help me check the wastegate. If I stick under 25 would I be doing any real damage?

It could just be the waste gate operating hose that's split. My mate's had perished and fallen off the back of the turbo, meant the waste gate stayed closed.
