Hi all, so my MY12 SDV6 blows reasonable amounts of blue smoke on hard acceleration, so I ordered a new modified turbo scavenger oil pipe and blanking plate etc.

Put disco on ramps and stands today, stripped off underbelly and moved starter so I could access the old pipe, only to discover the mod had already been done and a shorter pipe already fitted.

I disconnected and drained the various underbelly pipes and extracted about 250ml oil from them, put it all back together then pulled off the upper turbo air pipe, y-piece and butterfly valve, very oily and funky in there!

After a darn good clean of everything (fully disassembled to do a proper job) and a decent squirt of diesel carby cleaner into intake manifold while idling I took it for a short drive. Still some smoke but not as much as prior, likely due to my cleaning of the air induction system.

So, is my next step to drop some oil from sump assuming the level is too high (oil showing correct on level ground)?

Also of note is a minor turbo whine on spool up, been that way since I bought car 2 years ago.

Disco has now done 162k and is otherwise in great condition, flushed sump, replaced pan, lca's and chip remap.

Cheers collective wisdom.

You don’t need to drain the oil - that won’t cause the issue. I’d suggest you make draining the pipes part of your annual routine to keep it at bay

Anyone need a new turbo scavenger pipe and fittings?

Brand new still in land rover packaging. Happy to post at my expense, just want to recoup the cost of the parts.

You have a remap , it's going to blow a bit of smoke on hard acceleration, are you sure it's blue smoke?, is it using oil?

What do you want for the kit BushDisco?

I'm assuming it comes with blanking plate, gasket etc?

Cheers,
Martin.
