reading several forum posts, people say these fit with some scrubbing.

I got my hands on some coopers LTZ's second hand, took them down to the tyre shop and its up against the control arm hard. not scrubbing, hard. completely useless.

so do they really fit? who's running them and what did you do to get them fitted?

My brother tried Terra Grapplers in that size on his 08 RRS with the same result so had to settle for 265/50, then destroyed 2 by staking but that's another story.

Maybe their (aftermarket) rims had a different offset?

I run 275 45 20 LTZ's on my RRS '08. They are fine. I saw a set of 285's before I bought the 275's and the tyre man said they'd be too big.

I also run 285 35 22's on the bitumen when I'm not caravanning and they fit fine too.

I ran Cooper Zeon 275/45 R20’s no issue until I destroyed sidewalls on them (too Low pressure for too long). Now running 265/50 R 20 Nitto Terra Grapplers I prefer them to the Coopers. Again no clearance issues or speedo issues it’s bang on.

went in this morning, with a 5mm spacer for the front
got a call from tyre mechanic. looks like it worked, with 5mm to spare.
pick up this arvo and see if it scrubs anywhere.

What offset are your wheels? I suspect 53.

Your choice of course but you will have roadworthy and insurance issues with spacers.

yes i realise. from an engineering POV, 5mm isnt heaps. Ill check for studs length when i pick up the car.

Have a look on the inside of the rims.

These are my 20" L494 rims and show the offset as +47. You could get some wheels with less offset (from memory a variation of 10mm is legal) and the tyres will have clearance. So if a 5mm spacer works and your current wheels are 53mm, the 47mm wheels should be the same or 1mm better. The GOE Compomotives are 44mm.

cheers, i was hoping to make this all work without rim change. see how i go.
i'll check the offset after work

AFAIK your stock 20" rims will be 9.5" wide and the reason why the tyres foul whereas the same size on Disco 8.5" or possibly 8" rims don't foul.

My 08, TDV8 a recent acquisition. Came to me fitted with 22" 285 or ?295? and I have no issue with them. Except I don't like wheels this big. They are a Range Rover wheel, fit perfectly, do not rub and grip well. (Rims & tyres are only 3 months old? and I fear the cost of replacement rubber).

watching this thread with great interest as I want to change my 275/40/20's over to something with more flexibility in tyre type. Those 265/50's look good, and am I correct to believe no rubbing on the standard RRS wheels???
I have a 2012 RRS

I've just purchased a 2010 RRS TDV8 and am watching this discussion too. I currently have 275 40 r20 tryres and keen to get some ATs. I have been round a number of tyre places and they say they won't fit 265 50 R20s because its not the tyre listed on the tyre sticker on the door (therefore they say unroadworthy and insurance void). Just wondering if this is correct? I am in Victoria (and also need to get a rowdworthy done with some new tyres).
Thanks!
