OK i have now used 2 tanks of bio-diesel, one from Marrickville and one from Milperra, didn't tow with the first tank, but i felt no differance when i filled up and the economy was a little better, the second tank from Milperra i towed our camper and even going from the servo to home to hook up the camper i noticed the car a bit sluggish, more so than my first tank.

After hooking up the camper for our trip to Yalwal we set off, from the driveway to the corner of our street it was bloody hopeless, for the first time ever i had to go back to first when turning out of our street into the road that takes us to the main drag.

The whole trip was so bloody frustrating as i was going up hills in a gear lower than normal, on the way home i filled up with old diesel and once it mixed with the bio-diesel the differance was amazing, more grunt, i had my torque back and she was climbing hills like she used too.

I'll give it one more go, but not from Milperra this time from Marrickville again.

So one more go and if it affects my towing i will have to not use Bio-diesel.

Baz.

Did you do the fuel filter change thing that seems to be recommended when running first tanks of biodiesel?

Cheers

Interesting this should raise its head again.

Was at the Blinman Landrover Jamboree this weekend and was speaking to an Ex-Solihull Technician who now runs a workshop in Adelaide.

In the UK the TD5 is recommended to run no greater than a 50/50% blend of Bio and Dino Diesel.

*This is with standard ECU programs*

His other comment was, if chipped, dont touch the Biodiesel.

Just some more info I picked up.

Cheers
Mike

Yep changed the fuel filter after the first tank, didn't find any crap in there it actually looked fairly clean.

Mike, after running B100 and then filling the car with Dino-diesel when i had 1/2 a tank of bio-diesel left it did seem to go much better, so i think that B50 would be a better option or nothing.

Being a mix, does the B50 separate at all after a time?

While I was reading the D3 handbook, it stated something to the nature of using bio-fuels will void warranty.

Will need to check the book again and confirm.

On the way back from Brisbane the other day saw a place just south of Shepparton (Vic) selling Bio..... price was 14c cheaper than the real stuff. I didn't buy any but at least they seem to have the pricing right!

It is half way to being right, for a waste product that would need to processed to be dumped it should be cheaper still. Matt
