I upgraded my Disco 4 to a defender almost 3 years ago, and just today my wife notices that the windows dont have the "one touch windows close/open" feature.

Is this a known recall?

Dont bother, upgrade to manual wind up/down windows.

I don't understand the question: My cars choose when the windows go up and down. I am rarely consulted.

That's cute. I get the wind in my hair via the panel gaps and overall fit and finish.

My in-laws have assured me that there are no recall notices, and there never will be. [bigwhistle]

Not sure if the Defender has ever had this option but here’s a guy that added the one-touch feature - Defender 90 XS: One Touch Electric Windows (http://defender90xs.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/one-touch-electric-windows.html)

I’ve purchased the updated module DEI 535T but just need to install it my D90.

Actually the post was made in jest (yes seriously), as I hadn't thought it was possible to install an aftermarket "one touch".

So, this post is great, Im going to order a DEI 535T as well.

Please let us know how your install goes, I'll do likewise.

Cheers Again

I make a game of it. See if I can take off and get to second then open a window fully then release hand to shift up. If window takes too long then later gear change. Helps develop an unhealthy OCD like obsession with windows.

For a given definition of "upgraded".:Rolling:

Can you crank up the voltage of the motor in the windows mechanism...

If possible, this is an alternative...Just make it go up and down really fast...

i prefer the defender way. in my other car i argue with the window on a daily basis. Press the window button for down and the window opens too quickly to set it at 1 inch of opening. I then try to close it, again missing the stop at 1 inch. Repeat sequence with swear words for several adjustments. By that time i'm in the 80 zone and need to put the window up again. The daily ritual unless it's raining and i am saved the frustration of the little game we play.

I usually just drive with my index finger poised over the window button. Soon enough, a wild pothole appears, and a swiftly timed jab at the control ensured proper actuation.

But the only time you open a Defender window 1 inch is when you start opening the window then need to change gear, before opening it all the way.

Raining ? Why make that distinction? It nearly always rains on the inside regardless of whether or not the window is open or closed 😅

It just needs hard-wiring to the ignition: Ign on = window down.

It would save me needing the switch at all

Installation Manual DEI535T:

On my mate Defender I installed this one but you need 2 modules (one module for one window):
Bluewire Automotive - ONE TOUCH UP & DOWN POWER WINDOW MODULE (http://bluewireautomotive.com/products/one-touch-up-down-power-window-module)

Both solution work very well! (but I prefer the DEI535T, more "professional/OM)

If i bought a D2 then i would have that same longing face as every D2 owner has when he/she sees a defender drive past coupled with the involuntary mumble under his/her breath "wish i had the guts to be a real Land Rover owner".

Did you install the module with piggy-backed amp connectors or did you splice directly into the wiring?
