Air filter for TD5 ?

Just wondered what people's thoughts were on genuine vs after market air filters. I've heard K&N are good & will last for ages if cleaned every 5000 or so (?). Would there be any gain in performance ? (excuse my ignorance :oops: ). Thanks for the advice https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

It's a paper versus oiled foam debate but led by a rover owner. The arguments are convincing.

It'll make your eyes water.... but the upshot is if you drive in a dusty environment then stick with original or equal.

Note also the advice not to change the filter too frequently.

I have not read the thread put up by OI (could not get into it), but I would not be using any oil based filter with a Mass Air Flow Meter.

We just an aftermarket (Coopers) and replace when needed. Also much easier than having to clean an oil impregnated filter.

Yep registration on the outer limits forum might be required (worth it)

MAF sensors don't like K&N filters.

I just use a paper filter. I do have a stocking over the top of my snorkel to stob big things getting in there.
