Welcome

I took this Photo (of a Photo) at the "National Automobile Museum of Tasmania". The vehicle on display is in the centre of the photograph, and the display explained that the vehicle was used extensively in Tasmania before good roads existed.

Note however the Series I on the right...

This was on the wall at the Cooma Monaro Historic Car Club. Shame it came out a bit blurry.

Not quite in the time frame suggested, but Series 1.
This is A Bureau of Mineral resources Series 1, photographed by me while I was working as a field assistant on a geological party in the summer of 1959-60. We had four of these, but this seems to be the only photo I have of one - taken with a Kodak No 1a pocket camers, bought by my mother in the 1920s.

And a question - should I be posting here photos of my Series 1 from 1962-3?

Great pic and story John and to answer your question, old Series 1 pics taken in any era are most welcome particularly when you can tell the story behind them. [smilebigeye]

Thanks,

I asked cos thats not what is stated in the first post.

I can see that. Although any S1 pics are good, the intent is for the historical ones from the (any) early years. [thumbsupbig]

This picture was taken by me at our survey camp at Doongmabulla homestead near Lake Galilee in central Queensland. The ex SMHEA Series 1 is to the left, and at far right is another crew member's Jeep.

The same Series 1, nose only, at the Carmichael River crossing not far from there. I bought this Series 1 in Sydney in 1962 after my VW decided it did not like the dust of CQ. Kept it for a bit over a year, during which time I did an engine overhaul. Then traded it on a Series 2, also ex-SMHEA.
