Redback's trip to Yalwal looked good.

Im just thinking how long will the Yarramunmun Trail be open?
Gates erected last year and Shoalhaven Council closed the track off.

Dont know anything about the Mintbush Trail but its obviously interesting driving.

Anybody interested for a weekend/long daytrip?

I'd have to say "yes" .... I haven't been there for a while. Is the Wombat still open?

Sean and i did the Yarramunmun trail easter last year with 130Tdi from canberra and some of his mates from his 4wd club. The track had been graded and was boring to say the least. The only thing that spiced things up were the odd bog hole to plough through. Some of the tracks later in the day were ok though. Matt

I'm in for sure, Discowhite the Yarramunmun was definately graded. As Ace said, boring, pretty much just a dirt road. From what I can see though it's the side tracks that look to be interesting.

Weekend after next might be the best for me too.

If your interested in Yarramunmun and who isn't there are 3 or 4 ways to get to this hill, which is the reason that everyone wants to do Yarramunmun;
from the bottom looking up.

From the top looking down.

From Yalwal Rd turn left at Deans Gap Rd go for a few Ks Turn Right onto Mint Bush and follow till Monkey Gum then Turn right, (it's a Y intersection) keeping on Mint Bush, at the bottom keep left and follow down to the creek, sections of this are hard being rock steps, after this go across the creek and follow the track all the way to the bottom of the hill, trust you'll know it once your there, at the top you can go left or right.

If you go left (this is only if you can get up the hill https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ ) it will take you to the Yarramunmun fire trail and back to Braidwood Rd and the falls, Right goes towards Nowra around the back of the dam i think(haven't done this) https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ .

If you choose not to do this then when you get to Monkey Gum vear left onto Monkey gum and follow this back to Deans Gap Rd it's a very good track and will challenge you, once you get to Deans gap You can go left or right, right goes to Braidwood Rd and the beginning of Yarramunmun Fire Trail or left will take you back to those Power line tracks you would of seen on the way in https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

There so many great tracks to go on.

If I'm not mistaken Baz - that hill is called the "Widowmaker". If it's the one I'm thinking of it turns to the left at the bottom. We used that hill in both directions for showing what stock KJ Jeeps (Cherokee's) could do for the press launch. They did go up better than they came down because of IFS compression.

Yep thats it couldn't remember the name LROC do trips there too i think, it's pretty rutted now and the step near the top is bigger too.

At the creek now are 2 ways in and out and also the rock step section is a bit more washed out.

Sounds like a challenge. We can meet at south Nowra if you like, or even my place, but it's probably easier to meet at the South Nowra Mc Donalds. Jus make sure someone's got a winch to help us poor buggers in the less modified vehicles get up

I've always known it as "Rollover" first time we attacked it was because we arrived there by mistake, at the top there was a sizeable tree root across the track making a decent step to get over.

If you go left you end up back on the Yarramunmun trail then you can get back to the dam/camping area if you go right it takes you to a dead end or you can head back down to Boolijong creek (haven't been down that one).

From the 1:25k series Yalwal sheet

Some of the GPS tracks (green) date back to 1999/2000 before I had an external aerial, which is why they are a bit broken.

Looking back down the hill (same hill as Redbacks)

Not sure if I will be able to make it for those weekends but will try.

Just looking at these and thinking I'm even more ****ed of with the Parks for locking up the Etremma creek area - used to be fantastic driving through that area.

Hey looking at your map that track to the left before the hill goes around and up to the top as well, i noticed it at the bottom, have you been on it.

I also noticed before the top of Rollover/widowmaker the track off to the right i'm assuming thats the same track.

You forgot about me being on that last trip ace https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

There is an even steeper one if you keep going straight on until the end.

The last thing I remember is that the tracks are closed from both ends.

If you turn off deans gap rd about 2kms after it starts you can find this to play on

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

I would love to come along on that weekend but I am in Victoria.

Been on all the tracks shown red/green and the black that comes into the centre of the junction of Boolijong and Yarramunmun creek (although not for a couple of years) the one you are talking about was V rough last time I was there and we didn't make it up ended up turning around and coming back down rollover/widowmaker. I don't know what the tracks are like now as its been toooo long since I was down there.
