1958 engine block drain valve

Can anybody tell me where this is please,im standing in front of the vehicle. On the right where the drain plug would be on my s3 there is a bolt in the side of the block, which looks nothing like the drain plug in the parts book - the instruction manual doesnt show the plug in situ - just shows a picture of it hanging in mid air. Confused.

it should be at the rear on the drivers side, just up and a little forward from the timing marks inspection flap is from memory.
