Hey all,

Just seeing what has been done by anyone in regards to adding a non permanent water tank to the back of their D4s? With 3rd row seats removed is there anything that has been custom fitted for our cars? Think i'll neeed at least 80L.

When I go bush for extended periods I take an 85L water bladder as it easily fits in the rear footwells in my D1 (plus a couple of small bottles 5L and 10L for camp use). Now that I also have a D3, the bladder will be going into the rear of that too. I use my cargo area floor mat from my D1 (which I bought from Bunnings) to wrap it so it is protected from any rub points. So far after several trips between 7,000 and 15,000km it has been great. My advice would be to wash it out before use with a baby bottle steriliser like Milton's to get rid of the plastic taste.

Anyone else found a bladder (or had one made) to sit under a false floor in the back of a D4 with the 3rd row seats removed?

We use 10l water casks lashed into HD plastic crates for a tolerance fit and tied into the cargo barrier. Bladders in our experience have been of a varying standard of reliability. Had one fail on a Simpson and ended up with a swimming pool in the car which made for a soggy and smelly trip home

We have also used the bladder across the foot well. Had it in the previous car and now in the D3, been great.

The cheap way is just to buy 10 litre water casks from the supermarket. With a bit of fiddling it is usually possible to pry off the outlet tap, refill the cask and reuse it.
