View Full Version : Kimba passed Rego!!!!!

OK -- it should not be such a big deal, but last year I ended up taking Kimba to three different mechanics to get a pink slip. Two of them were too afraid to register it because of the bar/winch/aerials and wanted me to go for an RTA inspection 8O
Since then we have ripped out the standard exhaust and put in a 3" all the way through, no cat or muffler....
Therefore, I have been very nervy about how rego would go this year. :?
Dropped Kimba off this morning and no probs whatsoever, did not even comment on the exhaust. As I was leaving he just gave me a smile and said, "Love those Defenders, would not buy any other Landy, but god I love those Defenders." https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
Kimba just flashed her flap, whistled and we were off!!! 8O https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

good to know about the 3" exhaust passing - mine seems to have more of a bark than yours, but I just guess that the superiority of the 300 Tdi https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Bark??? Hmmmm....would that mean the 300TDi is all bark and no bite as compared with the TD5 then???? https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

good stuff noddy, pink slip time is always a nervous one, cause if the mechanic wants to be an arse and fail you for something there is nothing you can do about it.
As for the exhaust one will be going on the disco when i can get the cash together. Not important right now though

Ace -- $650. Done by the LRHs mate. As has been discussed it really eliminates alot of the lag and gets the turbo spooling up a lot quicker.
It now has a beautiful whistle at idle and a raspiness when going hard. From inside, it is only slightly louder than normal at highway cruising speed.
An "exhaust-ologist" mate reckons I may have lost some torque by eliminating all the back pressure. Certainly does not feel like it has and even if a couple of Nms went south, the improved responsiveness and efficiency is worth it.

Mine did his apprenticeship at LR around the series 1 Disco days. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
I was more than happy to take Rosemary to him, passed without a problem.
He did the head gasket test for nothing for me (omly takes about 2 mins) so I threw him a six pack of ale for his trouble.
You gotta be good to your local guy

A Bastard is an extremely rough file used mainly on Land Rovers in NSW
A Barstard is an extremely stupid bird or a bush turkey in QLD.
Thanks to Jahweh the indicators continued to work They are having an argument with the airconditioner at the moment... they just don't seem to get along together. I blame global warming and ozone depletion...not to mention Lucas.
I should move to Tassie

Whats a pink slip? :?
In Gods country (QLD) you register for life, as one does in Gods toilet (Vic)...
Seems a bit over the top

Retort 8O
Is your vehicle road worthy?
And who says so?
I find it interesting that the fee to register a vehicle is $49 presumably to look after road worthiness and the tax is $313 presumably to fill the coffers

Yay a whole day free!
Landy passed with flying colours, well he did top up the brake fluid and chastise me for allowing it to drop slightly.
Also laughed and the engineering certificate and questionned the need for it. 8O
Nice bloke though. He's also a 4WD buff and ask about where I have taken it.
