I have a 96 petrol disco, which is supposed to start on duel fuel then switch to LPG, starts fine on petrol only but when on lpg just cranks over seems to be flooded. If I remove the engine breather, so it bypasses the o2 sensor, it starts and runs fine. Seems to be lacking air. Can't seem to find anyone who knows what to do.
any ideas??
Also I seem to get a lot better fuel economy when I remove the factory air filter. Airfilter is brand new so is not blocked.
Its driving me crazy, any ideas.

Firstly, where are you located - we might know to where to point you?
Re apparent flooding, what happens if you switch the Petrol/LPG switch to the central "Off" position then crank the engine. Doing this should turn off the LPG and the petrol and allow the cylinbders tro quickly clear of excess fuel.
I had a similar problem for nearly 3 years until we found that the LPG installer had incorrectly wired the LPG/Petrol switch electronic control unit. Instead of the LPG being turned off after a 5 second prime, it was on whenever the changeover switch was in the LPG position. As a result the engine was being flooded with LPG.
Actually, it was Arthur Knights, an LPG specialist from Brisbane, that found it after I mentioned the smell of LPG.
Since fixing the wiring, the car now starts on LPG when cold - something that it would almost never previously do.

Ron, Thanks for replying, unfortunately my system has only a lpg and petrol switch no middle ground. When it starts on lpg it gives a squirt of petrol then runs on lpg.
even if I switch it back to petrol to start it still is flooded.
I actually have to turn back to petrol before I stop let in run for a while and then it will start on petrol and i can flip it over to lpg.
I'm taking in in to get everything leaned off and hopefully that will cure the problem as well as give me more economy.
I'm in Adelaide.
