Its been an expensive week on the Perenties, I did a Turbo on one of the 6x6s, so decided to do the KLR upgrade, Holy crap, its unreal. At 5ton, Im a gear higher in most situations, has a ton of torque with very minimal revs and is just a much nicer and less tiring vehicle to drive. However on pulling the old unit apart, it was obvious something wasn't right..turns out the air cleaners weren't seated properly and it looks like the motor is `dusted`.. very disappointing given I leave the daily maintenance of the vehicles up to the drivers of them..Now looking for a replacement engine if anyone has any leads?
The other 6x6 was heading up a fairly steep incline in 1st gear high range on friday, when it jumped out of high range. The driver changed into low and all was good, ran it for the day in low, however on the way home out of the mountains, he changed back into high range and found it won't hold?? pressure needs to be kept on the lever to keep it in high range..ive checked the linkages and all appears to be ok, there is some sideways movement in the lever that goes into the transfer case, is this normal..Any ideas where to start looking?
