I'm hoping this thread will keep on topic...........my previous defer I fitted Billies and I've read good tings about Koni, but at a bit of reading and a chat with a member who is running Superior i'm committed to going down this path.

110 TD5 starting with the front only at this stage, will be fitting 110HD Frong Springs (130 fronts)

nugget is running 10" +3 on his 130 with standard 80 series rebound (300) and pressure ??

Vern is running 12" +5 his rangie I assume with 370 rebound and 150psi gas

nugget is happy with the front on his but indicated if he had them out again he would revalve

anybody with a 110 running the +3 shocks on the front? have you changed the valving or pressure?

I am also looking at moving the shocks so they sit in front of the springs......works fine on rangies running air suspension

I probably should be working on the rears at the same time but the TF are doing an OK job and I need to replace the fromt springs

Let me know how you go relocating the shocks outside the springs, part numbers would be good.

Mate I ran twin front shocks on my Defender in Africa which puts the additional shock in front of the spring, the brackets were from Britpart by memory, never broke, etc... though it does mean you have a shock tower above the spring which you may not want. Quite heavy duty though, still have them somewhere...

Certainly a lot easier to change shocks...

I believe you can use the brackets off a range rover classis with air suspension......I have the top bracket

there are some members running air bags on the front of the defender therefore must have a solution.....

That's the one, a bad photo maybe zoom in, but they still maintain good articulation and are quire robust where they bolt on to the panhard rod.

OK....let get thread back on track...

who has fitted superior engineering shocks......are you happy with cruiser setting? or have you changed themI will reply here instead of to your pm.

I run them in +5" configuration

My set up is lse rangie with isuzu 4bd1t, isuzu msa gearbox, winch, bar, 3 batteries, sliders, sill tanks, lr tank, rear arb bar with wheel and jerry carrier, 33's, full roof rack, so you get an idea of the weight etc...

I ran them with stock valving first up. Which is from memory about 85-120 variable compression, and 300 rebound. Now I had these dialed all the way up to make the ride firmer.

Now I run the same compression, but the rebound up front it 370 and down back is 400. I set the shocks to there lowest setting up front and on number 2 up back now.
It transformed the car.
You could probably get away with leaving the fronts at 300, but personally somewhere between 340-360 would be ideal. 400 is perfect up back.

Just picked up a set of APT Dual Front Shock Towers....

fitting these along with the 110HT Springs, the old shocks will go into the new towers.

I’ll than go around to APT and measure up open/close, select a shock and than Ben has a bunch of data on 110’s (weight/configurations) and will adjust the shocks to suit my setup.

Hm, strong enough to be a primary shock mount?

Guess so......air bag man run as primary and APT have had them fitted and the rangie OEM don’t look as beefed up.

You can also use the standard RRC front shock mounts for the versions that use air suspension.

Umm, just a combination of chats

Ben @ APT runs them and reckons they are good value for money...plus Ben has captured a bit of data and tweaks them a little to suit

Nugget runs them and he has been happy

Matt on here works for superior and I’m happy with his call

Other than OEM shocks the only aftermarket shock I’ve purchased have been Billy’s..the Billy’s performed well on my one any only big outback trip.
