Recently did a filter and oil change to our 2011 gen 4 Haldex. Car has done 115K, thought might be interested in what I found. Took Haldex out for service, oil was clean and filter was not too bad but dirty, but the alarming point was that on removing pump found gauze filter at end very badly blocked so would assume oil flow into pump would have been severely restricted.

Classic Trumpycam, the motor pickup screens on the Haldex do clog up a fair bit. Best to ask/require this at service as some service centres don't check / clean the screen (gen 3, 4 & 5). Have found Volvo the cheapest for service parts and oil. Recently did my gen 3 and Genuine "Volvo" filter and oil was $75 all up. You also get a litre of oil for that money...I figure with a French engine, English bodywork, Japanese gearbox, I should try and keep the Haldex all Swedish...[thumbsupbig]

Thanks for tip about Volvo service kit bought mine from Bell Engineering in the UK despite postage LR couldn't even come close to the price. Like the Swedish idea also, was going to say it makes sense, but it would be hard to justify using the words ''sensible" and ''Land Rover" in the same sentence!!

I've just picked up a 2012 model with 86k kms. Keen to do change the oil in the Haldex so I know it's been done. What Volvo service kit did you use and did you have a service manual you followed, or just ripped it apart?

Not complicated both filters easy to get to once haldex out of car (easier if you know someone with a hoist like I did), has some odd bolts holding it on. Just go to Volvo dealer and ask what you need, got mine from Bell Engineering in UK.

Yup. Those screens block up very easily, even with clean looking oil. Must be done 100k interval max. Even less if arduous city driving/ parking etc.
