I have been trying to locate a Defender TD5 warning light dash panel and associated plug. (via wanted ad on aulro and emails to various Aussie wrecking places) without success.
I have some mates in the UK (motocyclists not Landy nuts) and perhaps one can look for me but what I need are:
 the part number/s for the
- TD5 warning light dash panel
- plug that connects with that unit.
If anyone can help with the part numbers I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Are you trying to update the 300Tdi dash to the Td5 dash? I did a rewire like that earlier this year for Matt Derrig's (KLR Auto) Defender.
The update instructions came off the 'net and they had errors which caused a bit of confusion and angst.

Why upgrade??
Because it's nicer-er :)

No I haven't. Thanks I'll have a look.

Yes that's exactly what I want to do. The only instructions I've seen on the net relate to 200Tdi so I assume the 200 and 300 have some differences.
Any information you can provide to assist would be VERY welcome Ron.

I should be going over to KLR on Friday (perhaps today). I'll get the diagrams and notes from them.

There are two docs that, to a degree, contradict each other:
Installing a Defender Td5 Instrument Pack into a 200Tdi/300Tdi - Land Rover Technical Blog (http://www.retroanaconda.com/landrover/2009/10/installing-defender-td5-gauges-into-a-200tdi300tdi/)i
and
http://www.retroanaconda.com/landrover/gauges_diagram.pdf
In the latter we found the low fuel light WO connection to pin 12 didn't exist.
Ditto for the LGB connection from the fuel gauge to pin 7 of the Bottom Speedo Plug ( B )
Ditto for the B wire from pin 7 of the Top Speedo Plug (A)
referring to the pinouts in the table on page 9 of the article, we marked some other things on our printout. I can't recall why but possibly the wire colours for pins 9, 10, & 12 were not as shown but were black (earth). When you do the job, keep that in mind just in case that is the reason.
Referring to the Td5 Defender wiring diagram in RAVE (section 47 Page 87), I found the RS loop connection from Instrument Pack (J100) Pin C0230-10 to C0230-6 was done internally in the instrument pack.
Similarly, the external BW loop from C0230-13 to C0230-9 was done internally in the instrument pack.
I can't recall if the internal loops were there or if I wired them.
These loops are required in a 300Tdi to stop the lights illuminating all the time. One, for TC, isn't required and the other, for the brake warning, is controlled by an earth via the brake fluid level switch to C0230-14.
The conversion had been started by someone else (not KLR) so he hadn't used new plugs and pins, he'd cut and spliced the old wiring into the new so that's probably why the colours didn't tally. I can't recall, it was a while back that I did it and I never expected to need the info again.
