This bracket came off a 2.25L pet. engine I stripped about 10 years ago. A little voice tells me it had something to do with protecting some wires. But where? Any clues? Thank you.

From one of the swivel hubs.
There has been some discussion as to what it was actually for.

It goes on the right hand swivel hub at the bottom. Its to stop the jack slipping and damaging the swivel ball. Only on rhf coz thats where the jacking point is. JDNSW will know more about it

Thank you, that makes sense , as it was stored with the axle parts., and the holes line up with the ones in the flange. Mystery solved. Thanks.

I've found another one. Not even sure if it's Land Rover. The 3/8" holes are 3 1/4" C/C. On a L/R a small hole as the one in the picture is usually used to hook on a spring. Any ideas? Thank you..W.

Thats the s3 type brake light switch/cover, protector. It bolts to the top two bolts on the pedal box inside the car. There is also a small hole there where the pedal return spring hooks onto

Pretty vague recollection as I haven't had anything to do with Series vehicles for a while but is it something to do with the brake or clutch pedal?
Thanks 67hardtop - answered while I was posting.

Thank you for your fast work. No idea how it's ended up in my shed.

it is a protector for the brake light switch on the brake pedal for those 2a and 3 vehicles with a pedal operated switch (some have a pressure operated switch).
