I’ve just purchased a 7-month-old D5 SD4 SE. I’ll post some more details latter.
First off, I’m trying to install a dash cam which requires an earth return, and both 12 volts switched and unswitched power supplies.
Access under the dash to be nice is not good, but I have limited access to the Passenger Junction Box which has lots of unused fuse locations, but all appear to be unswitched, even the earth return isn’t easy with so much plastic. I just can’t find an accessible switched power source.
Has anyone install anything that uses a switched power source and if so where did you find it.
My D2A was easy as there was a spare relay socket in the drivers foot well with earth and both power supplies.
Thanks
Greg

Switched - Use accessories socket in centre of console...

Earth - earth studs in both foot wells

I've located an unused switched power fuse normally used for the cool box, I should be able to use an "Aerpro APFTAP2 Mini blade fuse tap" to tap this and an unswitched unused fuse socket to give me the required power sources.
Land Rover don't want users to access either the Passenger or Engine Junction boxes, access is not good.
I could also say that this better be an ultra reliable vehicle that never has problems outside the dealer network area, they won't even tell you how to unlock the park brake in case a wheeled tow is required. The Park brake is automatically applied even in neutral after 10 minutes if the engine isn't running.
The unlock information is in the manual for most other Range Rover's, and I think is very simple if you know where the lever is in the engine bay.
