OK you lot. I need your help, here.
Back in the '80s (maybe early '90s), there was a comedy group that played a particularly bad sci-fi movie in a theatre and revoiced it with their own dialogue.
Can anyone give me any information on the comedy group or which theatre it was in. I seem to recollect it may have been near Carlton.

Oh, the movie was "Star Crash"

I think they improved on The Hoff's work.

Double Take?

The same crew that did that to the 60's Hercules movie?

Thanks for the lead, Redtail.

A little further googling revealed my mate David Parker (mate because I met him once "on set") the cinematographer made a movie "Hercules Returns".
Hercules Returns - Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hercules_Returns)

Reading this, it states "The film version came about after businessman Phil Jaroslow saw a Double Take performance of Hercules Returns in Melbourne. He was so impressed that he purchased the rights to both the original Ercole film and Mangan's script."

So, it may be the case Des Mangan was the script writer for the "Double Take" production of the show I saw. I'll have to email Des.

Does anyone else remember these productions from "Double Take"? I'm trying to remember the theatre.

Glad I cold help.
As for the theatre, I have a vague recollection of them performing here in Perth. Possibly part of a national tour?
