I see your model T aircraft with noisy tappets, and raise you a bevy of top shelf aircraft. Although the old Hurricane held the line when times were tough.

Hurricane/Spitfire doesn't matter, all the old propeller planes sound great in movies, much better than the jets.

A piston engine sounds better any day of the week, but What annoys me is a Turbo Porter and they dub in a radial engine sound, can't remember what movie it was.

The movie “Flying High” was originally set on a small propeller aircraft but the studio wouldn’t sign off on it, unless it was set on a large jet (Boeing 707). As an inside joke, and to get back at them they dubbed in propeller noises for the jet. The fact that it added to the rest of the insanity on that movie just made it all the more quirky!

How about this for an R/C model (Sea Fury) it sounds absolutely fabulous. IMO in the air its every bit as good as the sound of the real thing.

Actually RADAR won the Battle Of Britain. And the brave men who flew for the RAF, from all over the World.

Bob, your thread started about engine sounds.
If you want to hear and enjoy aircraft piston engines go to the Reno Air Races. Griffon engined Mustangs, F4u Corsairs and Bearcats with the big "corn cob" radial, P38's with the engine problems sorted and pulling 3500 hp.
WW2 was won by American industry. The prodigious production of almost everything the allied forces used from can openers to battleships.
