The square drive at the TC end of my speedo cable, keeps jumping out of it's little drive socket. I want to get it out to grease it as the web tells me that may be the solution to my problem. Today I tried pulling it out from the bottom and it would't come out, so will it come out the top, or is it not removable?

Nearly always they have a little flange on the top so they will not come out the bottom. It should come out the top.
Some LRs have a right angle drive behind the speedo, so it will have to come out of that rather than the back of the speedo if one is there.

Thanks Phillip, I know there's no right angle drive, mine is clicked straight into the back of the speedo. I'll give it a go from the top tomorrow.

As Phillip says, from the top.

You need to loosen off the instrument binnacle and pull it towards the steering wheel. You can then prise the outer cable connector from the back of the speedo and withdraw the inner cable. Clean it thoroughly and bung it back in and turn it around and pull it again and clean it again. Repeat until it withdraws clean. Coat it thinly with powdered graphite or white teflon grease and reverse procedure to install. Make sure the speedo end is slightly out so you can put it into the square drive on the speedo then pull the outer cable up and push it back over the fitting on the back of the speedo.
