I have bought a newish seat belt, it is wound fully in. I am unable to reslease the seat belt. Google suggests install it and then pull the bejesus out of it and this will tighten the belt on the spooll releasing tension on the lock mechanism. Any other ideas?
Thanks
Julian

Hold the reel exactly as it would be mounted in the car and extract the belt slowly. A tilt pin prevents the belt coming out when the vehicle is not vertical.

As Bee utey already said, When fitting new belts the inertia real part is finicky, it needs to be fitted correctly level otherwise they lock like you ave found.
