Good to see Noz,

Rover is great for wee ones, if anyone out there is debating. There's horse/pony rides, swings, play area, animal nursery, flushing toots and hot showers if you dont have your own......and now a huge flying fox!!

Not to mention wide open spaces, rivers, waterfalls, and Landy Rides galore!!!!

I hear you there, we had a brand new HSV R8 Clubsport and had to sell it after only 6mths as you know a family of 6 doesnt fit in a 5 seater.

We bought our D1 as a 5 seater and got the new rear seats fitted at Streetwise.

I tried to get wifey into a D2 7 seater as our second car but she wont give up the Audi ( well not yet anyway  )

I don't have their trip co-ordinator details but Vlad & Dave (adm333) are on the committee I think.

I just looked on the LROC website and saw they have a Moreton trip on that weekend. No reason they can't run two (we often have). It may be booked up anyway.

Tags for all members would be a good idea for the new members (including myself) would also then know who the "old members" are. I have been on several trips now with the club and on each outing have meet new people or "old members" yet not every member comes to the same trips, events.

The only down side is getting each member to bring their name tags and wear them, as I'm suer this would not be a high on the list to bring on even day trips.

Have we got sticky labels we could use for Frazer????????

Can't remember, but i know the ones down towards the river are huge....

Not too far, but far enough that the little ones can't get there too quickly or easily

Yeah that's my worry too. I love the cold....any excuse to get my fleece and beany on!!! but I have a 7 month old and am not sure how I can ensure he is kept at the correct temperature....kids have a problem regulating their own heat.....so my wife says!!

What time and day are you guys heading down (either from Brissy or Goldy)?

We're meeting at the truck stop south of Tweed and then convoying straight to the park from there. Looking at the map it is basically straight down to lismore then directly west to Rover. From Brisbane - depending on chosen roads - it looks like it is more south west or cutting the corner so to speak. Don't know how to post a map by check out the Dirty Weekend guide for a map.

Hi guys, I'm in the Rangie club and just letting you know my family and I are coming for all 3 nights - have camper trailer.

My wife Nicole and I have 2 girls who've both just had birthdays - one is 4 and the other is 1. I'll introduce you all when we get there.
We just came back from 9 days camping behind Mt Warning over Easter (little cold) and basically can't get enough. I showed Nicole the article Roothy wrote in 4WD Monthly about Rover Park and she's given it the okay.

Matt, I'm not sure who else from RRCQ is coming but we'll be leaving Brisbane (West End) Friday late morning, time the trip with the baby's sleeping habits.

Anyone else from Bris leaving Friday before lunch please give me a call - 0418 75 3131, otherwise see you all there !!

I wont **** on Stevo's bonfire so, come on Stevo....where's the Monday morning count down https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Okay, so far we have the following leaving from the Weigh Station just past Tweed heads. Let me know if anyone else will be joining us in convoy otherwise we shall see you all there.

1. Dranged + family
2. Mick G + Family
3. Loadedisco

Plan is to get there, scout out a camp site or appropriate site (depending on numbers, we may find ourselves in separate sections). Once we find a suitable site, we will inform the reception or check in where GCLRO are staying.
I would suggest other clubs and individuals do the same as I'm not sure if people will be contactable in the park on radio from reception - I'm only guessing though as I have never been before.

For those booking ANY accomodation within the park over the phone or when you arrive to check in, a 10% discount has been agreed with the owners so simply mention your club and you should be right.....I just spoke to them a second ago to confirm this and all is good and they have been made aware that AULRO, GCLRO, LROC, RRCQ will be arriving at various intervals over the weekend.
They don't normally give a discount over public holidays, but as this was discussed with them some weeks ago, they will honour their initial offer over this weekend.

Looking forward to a cracking weekend for both the kids, and families coming......of course the real kids will be off driving the tracks all day leaving the grown ups to take care of their own nappies and feeds  https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Also looking forward to meeting some new faces and getting to know the familiar ones better......names tags at the ready

We've gone from 7 down to 2 in our Disco 8O Myself and my son Daryl, are the only attendees. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ The teenage daughter has assignments, a couple of the littlies are a bit crook, and the missus is keeping them all home. The young fella D'arcy (3) may be a starter, but we'll see how well he is.

BAD POINTS
Won't get to play Land Rover families with all the others (sorry Noz, Hardy & folks with wives and little ones).
Children will miss a great fun weekend
Less children and wives to entertain other members childrens and wives

GOOD POINTS
Won't have to pack a 10th of the **** we normally do https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
Won't have to feed, clean, dress or shower anyone (hopefully https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ ) all weekend
Won't have to worry about coming back to base too often
Won't have to worry about anyone but us
Won't have to worry about D'arcy (3) jumping on me at 5:30 am
Won't have to worry about much except keeping the vehicle upright
Won't have to worry about keeping myself upright

Indeed some good and bad points there Matt, but either way I think it will be a top weekend. Looking forward to it but will be visiting the camping shop today to try and find some clever gadgets or pieces of ingenius clothing to keep my 8 month old and 2 year old warm during the night........any ideas anyone other than tons of blankets and hats?

Mick

Coleman make a great heater and its ideal for inside tents as it has an very low flash point.

Almost bought one myself for this trip

Bingo https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

I did wonder if there was such a thing. Off to Anaconda this morning and will hopefully grab one plus a few other bits and pieces.

Been camping all my life and have tons of gear for housing myself for a few nights, but needs change dramatically when you are going with young kids........especially when it is going to around 0 degress 8O

Cheers Noz and see you there, Mick

Heater??? Jees, what's the bloody world coming to. For you married blokes that shouldn't be nessacary as you have the other half to keep you warm

Matt, you can do the single bloke thing on the weekend. Join the club. Now that the platering job that I was going to do isn't ready, might get off earlier than expected.

I hear you Trav and had it been me alone, there would not be a heater in sight.....didn't even know they had them for tents and I have camped all my life.......in Scotland 8O But as I have no intention of having my 2 year old & 8 month old sleeping in bed with me and my wife, I have to find a way of keeping their fragile little bodies above freezing...more so Charlie at 8 months as he has no way of shivering yet to keep himself warm. Plus my wife is no good for warmth as she turns into an icicle at the drop of a hat........and I mean that in the literal sense   https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

I was at Anaconda yesterday - did not buy anything.
They a have Bunnings style 10% + price guarantee.
Which means you pay through the nose - UNLESS you're a smarty parts and do your homework first you can get a great price on high ticket items.

Those Coleman catalytic heaters sound good.
I did not see any at Anacaonda but Downunder Camping at Salisbury have them - BLACKCAT $79, PROCAT $169. Plus I imangine you'd have to buy the Coleman catridge too. ($6or$7?)

Keeping little kids warm at night can be a nightmare - literally.

I may even run out to BCF and buy a heater as well. The kids are a worry especially if you have a real sooky one ( and I do  )

Just got the Coleman heater...nice little unit which would appear to throw a fair bit of heat. Went for the one without the fan in the end as the guy reckoned it could be quite noisy....plus it was an extra $70. Having said that, I didn't manage to get out of the shop without buying a few other bits and pieces.......I just can't help myself

Anyway, loading the trailer this afternoon and reckon it will be quite full

Good to meet thiose whom I haven't in the past and catch up with the 'familar' crowd https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Rangie went well, drovge well and fuel wise wasn't too bad for a change.

Keen to go back and tackle more of the hard tracks (dont 'em all before, but they're now even more challeging    )

Thanks to everone for this weekend it was great! One of the best I've had so far https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ , speacil thanks to Justin (DRanged) for helping get us up the challange track and for the chain saw, gee those camp fires where good!!!! https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ I think 12:00am was the early one for me in two nights. 8O 8)

Did do some damage playing in the mud broke the driving light hinges in right front again although this time on a trip, so ding tally. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ Also for those on the trip leaving behind me did anyone pick up my rear stabilizing bar from my van 8O even after getting through the raven from camp I ripped it off on the way out some where as once on the tar road again I did a once over and it was gone. I dont think thats to bad  Not that the missus was overly happy :?:

Once again thanks to the MickG and Steinzy for a great trip, nice meeting evryone and looking forward to the next trip.

Ditto for Bolts sentiments.

Was a great weekend, good to finally meet the GCLRO boys (& wifes), and put faces to names and monikers.

Bit more driving would've been good, (as would a bit less whiskey and bit more traction control and ABS etc.) but I think most people will return.

Thanks for a great weekend folks, and the assistance with that *$%*^(^ abs probs (still not sorted)

Great craic, great time, can't wait for the next one.

I've started a Rover Park gallery in the trips gallery - please add to it. Will attempt a trip report and to finish Newsletter 14 this week too.
