Just wondering if i need to remove wheels and brake calipers to remove axles so I can replace my diff centre?
Ie. Do the axles just slide out like on salsbury diffs ?
Or do i need to remove wheel bearings and everything.
And yes Ive lost my rave cd

Rear end: just remove the axles, 6 bolts a side. Front: unbolt swivel housings, 7 bolts aside and slide therm out enough to clear the diff centre.

When i remove the flanges the axles seem stuck in.
Ie they dont slide out easily.
They come out a little and then seem to stick.
Do i need to put a bolt in the end of the axle and just pull a bit harder ?

Sounds like the splines at the diff end are a bit worn. You could leave the flange on and lever against that, use a slide hammer on the axle end or make a simple puller with some bent up steel flat bar.

Im currently trying to change over my diff centre and I cant seem to remove the halfshafts.
P38 style diff, 2003 td5
I have removed drive flanges, wheels, hub, calipers etc and the shafts slide out 15mm then no more.
Any ideas ??

Put the drive flange back on - gives you something to lever against. I can't visualise what is holding it.

Why are you removing the half shafts? Is the diff damaged? Possibly a bent axle housing, but this would show up as the half shafts not sitting centrally in the stub axle.

If that does not work, the next step would be to remove the hub and stub axle - and try from there.

Yes the diff is whining
I have removed the stub axles
Still stuck
Grrr
I even loosened the diff centre but no help
Driving me mad.

They will be twisted in the side gear... the TC has a lot to answer for...

Put the drive flange on and beat it with a sledge hammer.

Finally got the stuck halfshafts out and newish diff centre in.
Whine gone.
The ends were a liitle bit burred and worn on the spline.
Now just need to convince my sister to let my BIL buy some new ashcroft axles as well so we can share postage.....
Maybe an atb whilst I'm at it...
