Hi everyone,

I just wanted some help and advice with a suspected injector harness issue.

I recently bought a Discovery 2 TD5, it was running fine when purchased but me being me I decided to give it a few days of TLC and check over everything and do a complete service.
I pulled apart and cleaned a lot of items and everything was reassembled correctly. Upon completion I tried to start the car but I had no luck. The car manages to crank over absolutely fine but just will not fire. I have changed the fuel pump as I was told the stock ones tend to clog up around the same amount of km's mine has, fuel is getting past the pressure regulator as well.
The only other issue I can see is that the injector harness has failed and will not open the injectors. I did find that one of the electrical pins were slightly bent but that was straightened but with no luck of making the car start.

Am I heading down the right track ? or are there any other issues that could prevent the car to crank but not fire ???

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.............

Hi, measure voltage on the battery while cranking, if it drops below 10V the starter still spins well but the ECU will not open the injectors so you have to give a good charge tio the battery or replaceit with a new powerfull one... did you run the 5 pedal purge sequence after you replaced the pump?

An injector harness is unlikely to cause it not to start. run rough yes but not starting is more than likely related to a system that hasn't been bled properly.
Turn the ignition on and hit the throttle pedal 10 times in 10 seconds (might be 5 in 5) and the engine light will come on and the fuel pump will run a full bleed cycle.
The other thing that will cause non starting is the crank position sensor (did you mess with this?)
Get a nanocom or similar on it to find out what is actually wrong throwing parts at a TD5 to solve an unknown problem will get expensive.
Oh and don't use cheap fuel pumps

never heard of fuel pumps "clogging up" at x amount of kilometres, as mentioned hopefully isn't a cheapie, 5 pumps of the pedal for purge sequence , is the pump making a nice even tone when ign is first switched on ?
also try locking the doors with fob , then unlocking and try starting, to eliminate a miscommunication of immobiliser

Maybe try to do a windows reboot.
Lock with the key fob then unlock with the key fob.
If there is some RF interference they can do this.

Also do a prime by turning on the ignition and pumping the accelerator 5 times then wait for a while until you hear the fuel pump stop.
3rd possibility, reset the impact sensor on the firewall.

It does have fuel in it doesn’t it? I had an issue within the last 12 months where the gauge was reading 1/3 but the tank was actually empty.

Just a thought.

Perhaps you should list what you pulled apart and cleaned. This may provide some pointers to what the issue may be.
